Studio Highlights: 2020

2020 threw a lot at us all. Despite this, the studio has been lucky to be able to continue to produce work alongside established and upcoming artists.

To commence the year, work produced with sculptor Jeff Lowe was shown at ‘In The Close Distance’ at Pangolin Gallery, London. The exhibition explored the relationship between prints and sculptures and helped reveal the mutual complexities of each form.

Developing upon what was produced at the end of 2019 and shown at this exhibition, we were delighted to welcome Jeff back to the studio this year. The enjoyment and success of the resulting prints has meant our ongoing work with Jeff has seen the sculptor’s portfolio really develop upon his visits between lockdowns in summer this year. The artist has gone on to include a selection of these monoprints within an online exhibition with Pangolin Gallery: ‘Sculptors’ Works on Paper’ running October 2020 - March 2021.

It is clear the work produced with the sculptor is becoming a significant element of the artist’s career, the prints and sculpture informing the development of each other. We were pleased to have our collaboration included within ‘A Life of Making’, a new film documenting the sculptor’s practice.

Alongside the ongoing work upon monoprints, this year we also produced limited edition screenprints Cambridge Blue & Phoenix with Jeff. These are available to buy from the studio.

Willard Boepple

In February, we produced a new series of monoprints with Willard Boepple. Some of these were included in ‘Wood and Paper, Sculpture and Prints’ shown at Pamela Salisbury gallery, New York in June & July.

After last year’s large-scale prints, Willard also began the year on a more modest scale with developments towards Green Ganesh, a punchy little print taking a well-deserved place at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Prints from the edition are still available. Contact us for more information.

Another print selected for the RA’s annual exhibition was Tipitina, produced with Royal Academician Mali Morris. This silk-screen print follows on from last year's print, Mardi Gras. We were also delighted to hear sculpture by Jeff Lowe was included in the exhibition.

We are extremely grateful to all of you who have continued to support us, and everyone we have welcomed this year. As the demand for online browsing increased this year, we were delighted to be able to launch our new website in October. Kip Gresham Editions was produced as a new platform showcasing the work produced at the studio and to celebrate Kip Gresham's collaborations with artists since 1975.

Thank you for supporting us in this challenging year. We hope that you have been enjoying a relaxing break and you share our anticipation to be back in the studio.

We look forward to keeping you updated on the exciting new projects planned for 2021.
