Quintet
A new portfolio of five original prints by Willard Boepple, Stephen Chambers, Nigel Hall, Peter Randall-Page and Alison Wilding.
The 'folio will initially be for sale at an exceptional price of £1,200, making it an unprecedented opportunity to acquire a selection of fine prints by leading contemporary artists. The intention is to raise funds to support the training of an apprentice printmaker, Callum Rose. Quintet has been made possible through the generosity of the artists involved; all expressed their support for the objectives of continuity, invention and development.
It is a black A3 portfolio in an edition of 70 which contains a title sheet, the five prints and an explanatory colophon. The work is all made by hand using fully archival materials of the highest quality.
The contributing artists have international reputations and their work is held in many National collections. The four British artists are all members of the Royal Academy. The fifth artist, Willard Boepple, is a significant figure in the North American art world and has many links to sculpture in the UK. Four of them are sculptors and one a painter. They are all greatly respected printmakers.
The prints in the portfolio has been made at the internationally renowned Print Studio in Cambridge by Kip Gresham, Alan Grabham and Callum Rose. The studio has longstanding relationships with all the artists..
Income from the sale of the portfolios will be used to support Callum Rose, the studio's new apprentice. The studio Master Printer, Kip Gresham, plans to instruct him in the coming years and is keen to pass on his experience. After almost 50 years as a fine art print maker, there is much technical, collaborative and aesthetic skill to impart. Callum represents a new generation of printmakers who might continue to innovate and excel. The work in the portfolio is a testament to his considerable ability.
