Study in Blue on Black is an editioned print produced during the artist’s residency with the studio in 2011. Alongside a series of monoprints, the prints produced explored different colourways and the artist’s interest in geometry. The collaboration with the studio engaged a motif of repeated arcs in a grid-like composition found in much of his other work. Charrington applies a systematic approach to his work previously working alongside robotics engineers to produce the graphic concentric shapes. The video below shows a little of the process ‘behind the screen’ working on the monoprints.
Having exhibited in spaces such as the BALTIC and London Drawing Room, Charrington is now based in the North-East where he continues his abstract works alongside managing his own print studio.
